The Bridge of Hope story is the story of Christmas

December 16, 2021

Look at a nativity scene, and you will see the Bridge of Hope program.

The family
 – The family is centered, driving the goals of the program and provided with whole-family, holistic case management.

The shelter
 – As a housing first program, our priority is getting families into safe and sustainable housing, so homelessness is ended, and they are empowered to break the cycle of homelessness once and for all. Like the role of the innkeeper, we depend on Landlord Partners to work with us in a time when lack of affordable housing is the leading cause of homelessness.

Those who come
 – Neighboring volunteers who love and support the family throughout the time of the program, witness and experience the mutual transformation of the program. This neighboring approach ends the social isolation which perpetuates the cycle of homelessness.

Look for God’s Spirit
– Remember that God was, is and will continue to be within the reality of the kingdom of heaven on earth. It’s in the hands of those who bring their gifts, those who pray, those open to being transformed.

And yes, there’s even a place for the animals. We prioritize a family’s need to remain with their pets, as this is just one example of what a trauma-informed, family-centered program looks like.
