Teamwork Makes the Mission Work

April 27, 2021

This past week we saw our community come together in a big way through the annual Great Community Give. Surpassing the goal of 1 million dollars, they saw a whopping 1.7 million dollars being donated to over 100 local non-profits!
This feeling of community is really big 365 days a year at Bridge of Hope. Nothing we do is a solo endeavor.
I think of Pam, our administrative assistant who works diligently behind the scenes each week on social media, our database, and more.
I think of Makayla, our case manager who has been helping to translate Bridge of Hope forms into Spanish to help make our program accessible to more people in our community.
I think of Maria, our case manager who is working with three other local organizations right now to support our newest family in the program.
I think of Malachi, our board treasurer, who showed up at my house late one evening so I could co-sign a check to secure housing for a new family as soon as possible.
I think of Mary and Elizabeth, neighboring volunteers who exercise with Bridge of Hope mom Amanda each week.
I think of Susan, a local congregant and former neighboring volunteer who is chairing our Church Relations Committee with passion.
I think of Courtney, a neighboring volunteer who helped secure a matching grant for Bridge of Hope through her employer’s foundation.
I think of Rosemary, who gave a matching donation for a portion of our Great Community Give fundraiser to inspire others.
I think of Sherry, a former staff member who now serves on our Program Committee.
I think of Tammy, a Bridge of Hope graduate who is joining our board of directors to lead with invaluable insight.
I think of Phoenix, my 12-year-old daughter, who donated $10 cash to Bridge of Hope through the Great Community Give.
I think of Emily, a 10-year-old who is making and selling sugar scrubs to support our families. (Sugar Scrub by Em OrderSugarScrub@gmail.com)
I think of you. The simple fact that you’re reading this means you care and are invested. Thank you for your support.
This is just a small list of how this teamwork manifests. From our Neighborhoods of Support, our Staff, Board and Donors, it’s ALL a team effort. This is God’s kingdom at work in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, wrapping arms of love around neighbors.
